The Dept. of Design is a collaborative interior design team headed by Kier Gregg and Louise Kichenside with a vision to think outside the box, delivering creative, functional results and basing their business on collaboration and relationships.

Testament to their work, The Dept of Design is a staple name during industry awards hosted by the HIA and MBA, where every year you can guarantee winners and nominees would have The Dept of Design as part of the group.  So, it was a logical fit when they came to see the team at Benchmarc when it came to taking care of their accounting and financial operation needs.

The Dept of Design were seeking a team who were able to provide them with a turnkey solution for their finance operation. Kier and Louise wanted an accounting firm that they can rely on to work on the numbers and allow them to continue to inspire and design beautiful spaces for their clients. With this brief we implemented an accountant in their business to assist both directors with the day to day finance operation. Our key responsibility was to manage the cash flow of the business as well as ensure that the business continues to grow and allow the directors more time to do things that was important to them.

Being in the building and construction industry, debtor issues are very common and can have a detrimental effect on a business cashflow. We have worked closely with The Dept of Design and can proudly say that debtors are no longer an issue and allowed the business to manage its cashflow a lot better. On top of the day to day operation Kier and Louise work closely with one of our partners on a monthly basis where discussion revolves around governance, growth and continually monitoring the health of the business and meeting KPIs.
